- 01
Gather and Prep
First, get all your tools ready: a mixing bowl, fork, chopping board, knife, frying pan, spatula, and measuring spoons. Finely chop 1/4 medium onion (about 25g) into tiny pieces, no bigger than a grain of rice. Finely chop 1/4 medium tomato (about 30g) into similar small pieces. Finely chop 1/4 medium green chilli (about 2g); if you don't like too much spice, remove the seeds first. Finally, finely chop 1 tablespoon of fresh coriander leaves (about 2g).
- 02
Beat the Eggs
Crack 2 large eggs into your mixing bowl. Add 1/4 teaspoon of salt and 1/8 teaspoon of black pepper powder to the eggs. Use a fork to beat the eggs vigorously for about 1 minute, until the yolks and whites are completely mixed and slightly frothy. You should see small bubbles on the surface.
- 03
Add the Chopped Ingredients
Now, add all your finely chopped ingredients to the beaten eggs in the mixing bowl. This includes the chopped onion, tomato, green chilli, and coriander leaves. Stir gently with the fork to combine everything well, making sure the vegetables are evenly distributed throughout the egg mixture.
- 04
Heat the Pan
Place your frying pan on the stove over medium heat. Let it heat up for about 1 minute. To check if it's hot enough, sprinkle a few drops of water; if they sizzle and evaporate quickly, the pan is ready.
- 05
Melt the Butter
Add 1 teaspoon of butter to the hot pan. Swirl the pan gently to spread the melted butter evenly across the entire cooking surface. The butter should melt quickly and cover the bottom of the pan without browning too much.
- 06
Pour the Omelette Mixture
Carefully pour the egg and vegetable mixture from the mixing bowl into the buttered frying pan. The mixture should spread out to form a round shape. If it doesn't spread perfectly, you can gently tilt the pan to help it along.
- 07
Cook the First Side
Let the omelette cook undisturbed on medium heat for about 2-3 minutes. You will see the edges start to set and turn opaque. The top surface will still look wet, but the bottom should be firm and lightly golden brown. You can gently lift an edge with your spatula to check the color.
- 08
Cook the Second Side
Once the edges are set and the bottom is golden, use your spatula to carefully fold the omelette in half. If you prefer, you can also flip it over completely to cook the other side flat. Cook for another 1-2 minutes on medium heat, until the omelette is fully set and cooked through. The center should not be runny.
- 09
Serve
Carefully slide the cooked masala omelette from the pan onto a plate using your spatula. Serve it immediately while it's hot. Enjoy your perfectly cooked masala omelette!
