- 01
Prepare Ingredients and Tools
First, gather all your tools: a mixing bowl, grater, chopping board, knife, small bowl, butter knife, tawa, spatula, and measuring spoons. Finely chop 1/4 medium capsicum, 1/4 medium onion, 1/4 medium tomato (remove seeds), and 1/2 green chilli. Grate 100g of cheese using the grater and set aside in a small bowl.
- 02
Mix the Vegetable Topping
In the mixing bowl, combine the finely chopped capsicum, onion, tomato, and green chilli. Add 1/4 tsp of salt to this mixture. Mix everything gently with a spoon until well combined. This is your vegetable topping.
- 03
Prepare the Chutney-Butter Spread
In a small bowl, mix 2 tbsp of softened butter with 2 tbsp of green chutney using a spoon or butter knife. Stir until it forms a uniform green spread. This will be spread on your bread.
- 04
Spread Bread Slices
Take 4 slices of bread. Using the butter knife, generously spread the green chutney-butter mixture evenly over one side of each bread slice. Make sure to cover the entire surface.
- 05
Assemble the Toast
On two of the chutney-butter-spread bread slices, evenly distribute half of the vegetable mixture on each. Then, sprinkle a generous amount of grated cheese over the vegetables on both slices. Place the remaining two chutney-butter-spread bread slices on top, with the chutney side facing down, to form two sandwiches.
- 06
Preheat Tawa
Place the tawa on your stove and turn the flame to medium heat. Let it heat up for about 2 minutes. You can test if it's hot enough by flicking a few drops of water; if they sizzle and evaporate quickly, it's ready.
- 07
Toast the First Side
Carefully place one assembled sandwich onto the hot tawa. Cook on medium flame for 3-4 minutes, or until the bottom side turns golden brown and crisp. Use the spatula to gently lift an edge and check the color.
- 08
Toast the Second Side
Once the first side is golden, gently flip the sandwich using the spatula. Cook the second side on medium flame for another 3-4 minutes, or until it's also golden brown and the cheese inside has melted. You should see the cheese becoming soft and gooey.
- 09
Repeat for Second Toast
Remove the first toasted sandwich from the tawa and set it aside. Repeat the toasting process for the second sandwich, cooking each side for 3-4 minutes until golden and the cheese is melted.
- 10
Serve Hot
Once both toasts are ready, transfer them to a plate. Sprinkle 1/2 tsp of chaat masala evenly over both toasts. You can cut them diagonally into triangles if you like. Serve immediately while still warm and the cheese is gooey.
